We think she’s pregnant. What’s next?
1. Make an appointment to find out if she really is pregnant
A positive pregnancy test (including those taken at home) suggests a high probability that she is pregnant. However, the result should be confirmed by an ultrasound exam. This can answer three major questions:
- Is the pregnancy in the uterus?
- How far along is she?
- Is there a fetal heartbeat?
This information is critical regardless of what options she may be considering.
2. Come with her to the appointment.
Meet with a client advocate that can answer your specific questions.
3. Support her.
Remain calm. Be careful not to say things you may regret later. Reassure her of your unconditional love and concern. Respect her. Listen to her feelings and fears.
