What to Expect

Here is what you can expect during your appointment with AVA Care:

Welcome to AVA Care

When you arrive you will be asked to fill out basic information forms. You will also be asked to provide a photo ID. This is to ensure the privacy and safety of your information.

Nurse Consultation

A licensed nurse will meet with you to collect medical information and a urine specimen. She will return with your results after you speak with your client advocate. She will be available to address any medical questions or concerns you may have.

Client Advocacy

While the nurse is performing your pregnancy test you will meet with a client advocate – a woman trained to provide support and education in pregnancy decisions. You will receive information on all of your pregnancy options.

Depending on the medical assessment, you may be eligible for an ultrasound. There are three important questions that you need to have answered before making any decision regarding your pregnancy. The ultrasound can provide these answers:

  • Is the pregnancy located in the uterus?
  • How far along am I?
  • Is there a fetal heartbeat?

You will be asked to complete a short evaluation of your visit. Your feedback is very important to us.
